Who is covered?

The rules apply from the year you turn 67, provided you are entitled to Swedish state dental-care support. The clinic checks what applies when preparing your cost estimate.

Treatments that may be covered

The support includes treatment for disease, pain and gum disease, fillings, and crowns, bridges and implants for the front ten teeth in the upper and lower jaw.

What is not covered by this compensation

Examinations, X-rays and preventive care such as cleaning and tartar removal are not covered by the special compensation. The ordinary dental-care support may apply instead.

A clear cost before treatment

We explain which procedures are covered, what you pay and whether other parts of the treatment follow the ordinary high-cost protection.

Frequently asked questions

Do I always pay 10 percent?

For eligible procedures, you pay 10 percent of the reference price, or the clinic’s price if it is lower. Other procedures follow the ordinary prices and dental-support rules.

Does the support cover dental implants?

Some implant treatments are covered when they concern the front ten teeth in the upper or lower jaw. An individual examination shows what applies to you.

Do I need to apply myself?

The clinic checks and reports the treatment information to Försäkringskassan. You must be entitled to Swedish state dental-care support.

What is a reference price?

It is a comparison price set by the Swedish state for a dental procedure. Compensation is calculated from that price or the clinic’s price if it is lower.

Where can I find official information?

Försäkringskassan publishes current information about state dental-care support and special dental-care compensation. We also help you understand what applies to your treatment plan.
